We run full flatbeds — 22 supersacks, 44,000 lbs — because a full truck is the cheapest way to move rubber across Missouri. At a full load it's $425 a sack delivered, and on smaller orders every sack you add pulls your per-sack price down. No showroom, no sales crew, no installer markup — you unload it yourself and keep the difference.

And here's the number to anchor on: what wood mulch costs you every single year. Wood looks cheap the season you buy it — then it fades by August, floats off in the first gully-washer, and has to be re-bought and re-spread next spring. Rubber costs more on day one and then just about nothing for a decade. It doesn't float, doesn't wash away, doesn't rot, and holds its color. Step 1 Meet the truck Pallets come off the flatbed with tractor forks, a skid steer, or a forklift. Somebody in town has one — they always do.
Step 2 Put a tarp down Stage each 2,000-lb supersack next to the bed or playground it's headed for, tarp underneath to keep the grass clean.
Step 3 Slice the sack open One cut and the mulch pours out onto the tarp — clean nuggets, no wire, no dust cloud.

Missouri DNR Scrap Tire Surface Material Grants

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) awards competitive Scrap Tire Surface Material Grants each year, funded by the state's scrap tire fee. Grants cover the cost, delivery and vendor installation of scrap tire surface material for playgrounds and non-playground projects, and there is no match requirement.

What to know

Public schools, private schools, parks, nonprofit day care centers, other nonprofits, and non-state governmental organizations are eligible. There is no match requirement; grants are awarded competitively. A recent cycle made roughly $600,000 available for playground surfacing and about $400,000 for non-playground projects. Mat, tile, or pour-in-place surface material requests can be eligible for up to $75,000 per recipient. Products must use at least 40% Missouri-generated scrap tire content, and material must come from an approved vendor or one that certifies the percentage.
